Another Day in Paradise!

So, Tony's on the road again, this time in Jacksonville, NC.  He texted me yesterday, "this place is miserable."  I was confused?  We lived there for almost a year back when he was still training before the fleet.  Had it changed?  Was this comment work related?  Well, apparently it was gray and wet and drizzly???  WHAT?  My Alaska boy is SPOI -LED!  Most states don't have 355 days (or something) of sunshine like we do in Yuma, AZ...the sunniest place on earth I think.  Oh yeah, and Hawaii for almost 5 years doesn't help the cause :)

Anyway, while Tony has been suffering in 45 degree weather, Darbs and I have been soaking up life in paradise...Yuma style.

Dinsmore Farm.
Story time in the wheat fields, dirt, and tractors...PARADISE!

It took a while to warm up to this beast, but once settled I couldn't get her out!  Sister looks good driving a tractor!

Filling Ella's purse with farm dirt never looked so fun.

The hiking boots came out for this date :)

*****************************************************************************

Today's workout was a video.  When Darb's is with me (which has been often),  my options for a good, uninterrupted workout are limited.  I LOVE seeing her jump around the room with me, grabbing her toy mariachi's as weights, lunging away making sure her knees don't go over her toes, watching the screen while doing crazy moves with her legs and arms...it's priceless really.  But mama pays a teenie tiny price for working out with a two year old...and that's interruption.
While squatting away, I had to tie her ballet shoes twice (need to glue those suckers).  Heaven forbid she continues play with untied ballet shoes??  I paused the video at one point to scold her for taking the heavy, long curtain rod, (that still needs to be hung) for the 3rd time.  Swinging that around was just flat out dangerous...Sadie, along with a glass table almost got wiped out.  Oh yeah, and everytime I got down for pushups, she thought it was horsie ride time...I'm not in that good of shape.

I really wanted to finish my workout, so I bribed once again...

All of the DQ's in Yuma have the vintage feel.  I don't think Hawaii had a DQ, so maybe this is the standard look?  Either way, I like it!

Goofball...hammin' it up as usual.
Darby likes to work out with mom...how cool is that?  I'll take those little interruptions anyday.  In fact, I'll interrupt myself just to soak it all in...just to take a mental picture of something I never want to forget.
Oh, and I'll continue to bribe - ALL DAY LONG!

Another day in paradise indeed!

Fat Tuesday-ness

This is what dinner looks like when Tony is gone and Darby is fast asleep...
Tony's in San Diego, so the menu tonight looks to have a fruit/berry theme...I just noticed...ha!  Cravings I suppose?

Happy Fat Tuesday!!  Darbs and I "partied" it up at the library...beads, jumbalaya, King Cake and all.  She was totally into it.  Girlfriend likes to have a good time with her friends.  Who can blame her?

So, 40 days until Easter...

No TV in this house.  This "Lent" experience is a first in our household, as we usually go about our daily lives without actually sitting down, discussing, and/or recognizing the significance of it all.  We're ready for some changes.  We want to be better.
I have a feeling that pile of magazines on my night stand will disappear and I may actually get to reading some of those books on my Kindle?  I will learn to sew on my new sewing machine and there is even a possibility I will conquer that mess of an office.

Football season is over.  American Idol, The Voice, Office, and Parenthood can be recorded.  That's pretty much it...

I think cutting off some of our ties to technology can open up all kinds of doors we don't even know exist.  Baby steps.  Darby probably won't notice a difference, but I have a feeling Tony and I will benefit greatly.  More focus, more conversation, more sleep, quality family time???  Summary to come in 40 days :)

I know one thing for sure...more blogging is in my future.

Signing off for now.  One last Parenthood to watch before April!

Cheers!

Little Ballerina

Where does one begin when trying to pick up the blogging thing after a 6 month hiatus?
A move, a few major holidays, Darby on the verge of turning 3...

I wouldn't say it's writers block that has kept me from this journal, as there has been PLENTY of inspiration filling my soul. In fact, the 7am pitter patter of little feet running into my bedroom every morning is the start of an inspiration filled day of which lasts until around 745pm when the pitter patters fade into snuggles and whispers about our day. Nothing beats a clean, snugly, joyful, chatty, baby girl. Nothing...

Anyway, here's a good starting point:

We have a ballerina on our hands. She does the froggie and horsey like nobodies business. I'm one proud momma!

Bribery was in full effect today in order to get Darby out of the studio. She's getting some new ballet shoes tomorrow. Hey...she needed them anyway...so what?

On to other things...

Sage Organic Skincare - My sister's pride and joy since last summer. I am so proud of her for taking a leap of faith, dropping everything to pursue a dream, a passion. She was recently featured in the local paper and a Living Social deal should be popping up in the near future. I'm dreaming about one of her facials as we speak...absolutely fantastic!!! Oh yeah, and she threads my brows to perfection! Sage carries a makeup line and skin care line, all a-natural! LOVE!
