First Baby Booker!

Well, I can finally rest easy as today Tony and I saw the first picture of the baby. I will admit that I was a little anxious for today's appointment with it being only the first trimester; however, Tone's been calm throughout, creating a nice balance between the two of us :)

Tony had his first experience in a women's doctors office. The first thing he mentioned as I was filling out all of the paperwork was "there aren't any non girl magazines to read!" So he ended up settling on a Women's Health magazine with Kathy Lee Gifford on the cover. Haaaa! He was excited to find a People mag. once we were actually in the Doctor's room. Ask him anything about Clay Aiken "coming out." He's all caught up!

The whole OB-gyn experience for Tone didn't end there. No need for details, but stirrups were involved. He sat there patiently listening to the nurse, waiting for his turn to participate. Finally, he was able to stand up and look at the monitor. With the baby at about 10 weeks, she thought she may be able to get a shot by doing the ultrasound over the belly. That didn't work, so it was back to the stirrups. Immediately, the baby popped up. WHAT A RELIEF! "It's" been measured at about 1 inch, and the head, arm buds, and heart beat were TOTALLY visible. The heart was just pounding away a mile a minute and the wee babe was squirming around already! Leave it to Tone to ask if there were two of them in there...she didn't see any evidence of two babies...I think that disappointed him a bit. I on the other hand, am just fine with it!

So, I've attached the first scanned Baby Booker. "It" looks like a head popped out of a little cocoon...CRAZY!

Next appointment is in two weeks.

It's official...

9 Weeks Already?

Not much has happened since my last entry. I'm going to get the first ultrasound on Tuesday morning...with that will come some relief that there really is a wee little babe growing inside of me and that I'm not just bloated and gaining weight for no reason. My appetite is non existent for the most part and the energy/motivation part of me is definitely lacking, but other than that I'm feeling pretty good. Today was the first time I did my workout on the bike and felt really winded. I guess that could be the tons of extra blood that is circulating through my body??? However, a workout always energizes me for the evening!

I'm still working on Tony to write a little something about his "pregnancy" experiences for the blog...we'll see. He mentioned the other night how he's excited to have a baby...this is right after having dinner with some friends and their one month old...tossing the baby back and forth trying to keep him calm throughout the night :) I'll take that as a true sign that he's ready!! For those of you who don't know, Tony the instigator/wrestler is a big teddy bear who likes to cuddle...a baby is the perfect thing for him. (He's going to kill me for saying this.)

Anyway, we've decided to switch my insurance and see a doctor in Kailua rather than make the Honolulu trip out to the Tripler Army Hospital...just a personal preference. This should make it easier for Tony to make the appointments, and Castle hospital is literally down the street from our home. The doctor I'll be seeing came highly recommended from a good friend of mine, so I'm feeling good about things now that the decision has been made.

Well, that's about it for now. Tuesday is the big day...I'm a little bit anxious. Chao until then...
