Where Did Summer Go?

The past few months we've been doing a little bit of this...

Sushi, popsicles, bubbles, sparklers, IKEA, movies on the grass, shopping, soccer, "workin", and more...

We're approaching move in day down in Yuma, which means Daddy can finally join in on all of our fun!  However, we'll forever cherish all of the family time we've had with Auntie Court, Auntie Tara, Auntie Ambie, Gammy, Grampa, George-G, and GG.  (I think Darbs has finally figured it all out???)

I foresee many adventures to come...pop-up camper, football games, San Diego...the possibilities are endless!!!  Who's going to join us??? 

Anyway...

Let's Not Forget...

It was a sad day for our country last weekend.  My heart skipped a beat when I heard the news Saturday morning of a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.  31 killed.  Meaning it was a big helicopter, like Tony's. 

With my relief came heartache for the many spouses who weren't spared that knock at the door. 

Let's not forget that Freedom is DEFINITELY not free. 

The Navy Seals have been getting a lot of attention throughout this tragedy (as they should).  But what about the others on the helicopter who made the ultimate sacrifice?

Darbs and I get to fly to Hawaii next week for the long awaited HOMECOMING.  Super exciting while at the same time a little bittersweet. 

Haboob

Haboob...that's right, I just wrote Haboob.  Go ahead and Google it...

Mother nature put on a fantastic show out here in the desert this evening.  I forgot how cool monsoon season can be (since living in other parts of the country the past 6 years). 

Anyway, Darby and I enjoyed our "hike" around the yard before bed, checking out ant hills,  collecting rocks, and getting stickers stuck in our feet...or rather mom's feet.  Hiking in flip flops isn't always smart.  It actually was a comfortable evening.  The smell of rain subtly lingered in the air, and the sky was a luminous orange of which presents itself when dust is in the air.

Not a tropical storm, not a tidal wave, not a tornado, not an earthquake...just a desert dust storm...a haboob perhaps.

Swim Practice Distractions

Darby and Olive were very distracted during swim practice on Wednesday.  Coach and I tried our best to get them focused but this was just too much.   Hey...they were just practicing their dive hands?? How could I be mad???

Where does Darby get this stuff???  She cracks me up on a daily basis...that's a fact. 

Prayer Request

This is Lilliana Shull...a little angel baby.  18 months old. 

Mike, Jen, Jack and Lilly are a part of our Military Ohana...great friends. 

What started out as a family post deployment vacation turned into a parent's worst nightmare. 

Please pray for this family and the doctors who are caring for Lilly as she fights an aggressive type of brain cancer.  As I understand it,  yesterday she underwent an all day surgery where part of the large tumor was removed...biopsy was positive.  I believe they will continue her care with chemotherapy.

Stay strong little peanut!
